Retaining walls are important to landscape design because they reshape contours of a sloped property, creating flat areas for patios, lawns or gardens. They also are carefully engineered systems waging an ongoing battle with gravity from saturated soil in your landscape.
Retaining Walls
Retaining walls don’t have to be boring! Working with the Bayon Landscape Design team, you can choose a material that’s both functional and well-suited to the look you’re trying to achieve, whether using concrete blocks, coloured concrete, stacked uncut stone, brick or wood.
Note that retaining walls over four feet require permits in most jurisdictions. As part of our work with the client, Bayon can handle this paperwork and approval, as well as other building code matters. Bayon is also experienced at the calculations necessary for ensuring your retaining wall can manage the load upon it, based on the length, height, slope, and type of soil you’re dealing with. Our design team can prepare necessary drawings for engineers, landscape designers and garden planners.
The Bayon Difference begins with a complimentary in-person consultation, up to 45 minutes. If you’re not sure of your goals, our Landscape Designer may also attend this meeting. After walking through landscape, we will discuss budgets and priorities. We start our Consultation sheet, which will then become a Detailed Estimate for your approval.
